About

I'm Carina Kroeze. I was born in a small village and spent much of my childhood playing outdoors in the woods. Nature has always inspired me, and as a child I was forever drawing, painting and colouring. I developed my talent and passion further at the art academy in Kampen, where I learned to experiment with techniques, materials and expression.

How I grew as an artist

After the academy I spread my wings and immersed myself in painting portraits. Over the years my style has become intuitive and expressive. I call it painting outside the lines, because I'm not striving for perfection, but for emotion and spontaneity.

To me, painting is a game, an adventure in which I look for the balance between control and letting go. The strength lies in the imperfections: they make every piece unique and unpredictable, just like life itself.

Besides portraits, I also work on freer paintings, where colours and shapes tell a story without words. My inspiration comes from people, emotions and nature. Every canvas is a voyage of discovery in which I experiment with textures and layers to create depth and character.

Art as a way of telling stories

My paintings invite you to look a little longer, and to keep discovering new details and nuances. I play with contrast, light and shadow to create movement and liveliness. For me, art is a way to tell stories, capture feelings and connect with the person looking at it.
